About Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE

Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE (NVITAFE) is the legal entity established to support vocational education and training across Northern Victoria.

From 1 January 2026, NVITAFE operates as the governing body for GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE, providing a single statutory, governance and operating framework while local high-quality education and training delivery continues through the existing TAFEs.

Why NVITAFE was established

The establishment of NVITAFE responds to the opportunity to strengthen vocational education across Northern Victoria through closer alignment and shared capability.

The focus of NVITAFE is to support high-quality, locally delivered training while strengthening the system that sits behind it.

By bringing GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE together under one legal entity, NVITAFE delivers the following benefits:

Equity of access to education

The amalgamation means GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE will be able to offer consistent and equitable education and training options to more students across a larger geographical footprint.
